North of the well-known Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area in the far southeast of California are the North Algodones Dunes.
They are under nature conservation and may not be used like the southern dune area with OHV's.
Unfortunately, the Imperial Sand Dunes are much more spectacular, but because of the many lanes, less photographically interesting.

Two male Violet-green Swallows doing some midair flexing for the ladies. Did you know Swallows can consume 60 insects per hour or a whopping 850 per day (assuming 14 hours of daylight in the summer months)? That's 25,000 fewer insects per month chasing you around the forest, per Swallow! ... Now multiply by the number of Swallows... thats a pretty effective natural pesticide, isn't it?

I shamelessly bribed the mine employees who were tasked with cutting down this ecosystem bordering my yard. It is home to frogs, insects, spiders, dragonflies and many birds.I live in a far-flung corner of the mine,so i hope to keep this sanctuary safe.

Fujifilm Finepix F30
From this Mountain top, there is a wonderful 360 degree view, one of the very best views in Norway ! This place I have visited many times, a great joy each time. The peak is 1527 meter (5010 feet) above sealevel. Distances can be very hard to guess in the Mountains, from the Rock to the Lake there are 6.2 Km (3.9 miles), the Lake is 1050 meter (3445 feet) above sealevel, the Lake is 9.2 km (5.8 miles) long.
When the Fujifilm Finepix F30 was new, it was the best compact camera you could get.
